Dozens of teachers around the world teach Robbins technology in their camps, after school clubs and classrooms. One of our shining stars is Marianne Douglas, who teaches Strategies for Success I and II at Mount Hope High School in Rhode Island. One of her students recently wrote to us:

Dear Anthony Robbins Foundation,

Ms. Douglas's class is awesome. I'd like to tell you how Discovery Camp has helped me as a person. When I was growing up, my father used to beat me and my brother, and I never saw him sober. I remember one hot day in Tennessee, I was about 6, and my brother was 7, my mom went to work on a Saturday so my dad had to take care of us. She left around 10, and so did we. My dad didn't want to deal with us, so he locked us out of the house, in the middle of summer, until 6:30 when my mom came home to let us in. No food, water, or shade, in the middle of nowhere, with no place to go. I thought I'd never be able to forgive him.

All my life, I always felt that nothing was good enough, because nothing could please him—100 wasn't good enough, he wanted 101. All my life I was trying to live up to that expectation, so I was never satisfied with anything I did.

Another thing my father taught me was not to cry, crying was for babies. That's why when I cried at Camp, it was so hard for me. By always holding in my tears, I built a wall inside myself. I never felt pain like everyone else. Love to me never really existed. Since I got back from camp, I was able to say “I love you" to my mom. It felt so good, I'm still working on it, but emotions are there, and I want to say thank you to all of you who helped me realize the wall, and who helped me tear it down.

Thank you for your time,

Rachel
